Meet the Problem With Dating Team: Jacky Wright

“Relationships are everything!”–One of my favorite lines, I’m sure many of you feel the same way.

Whether business, personal, casual, professional, etc. we all possess an undeniable need to connect with one another, it’s by design. I’m only a few sentences in, but you may already be thinking, “Who’s this guy and where is he going with this?”

Well…My name is Jacky Wright. I’m from Philly, I’m in my 30s (sounds cooler than saying the exact number), I don’t have any children and I’m recently divorced (sips tea).

I’m sure there are plenty of other guys in my situation, but as a black man, I low-key feel like a unicorn. I’m single, no kids and I recently moved to LA to pursue my dreams. Thank you, sweet infant baby Jesus for grace and favor!

Before I go any further, I need to thank Bruna for allowing me the opportunity to give my two cents on these relationship topics. We recently met through a mutual friend Shavone (You’re awesome!) and most of y’all already know (because you’re reading her blog), but in case you don’t know, Bruna’s got the sauce!

[Editor’s Note: Thanks, Jacky!]

At this point in my life, I feel pretty well-versed in this dating/relationship world. I’m not an expert by any stretch, but I’ve experienced some things personally and vicariously through others to where I hope that my perspectives and opinions can be refreshing and help others navigate through some of the madness.

I’ve run the gamut of the relationship spectrum, from being a ladies’ man to being in a faithful marriage. I have stories, upon stories, upon stories. My only dilemma is, where do I start?

  • Start from the heart Jacky! Can’t wait to hear about your experiences and your life. Being a single man in my late 20’s (does sound cooler than saying the exact age) I’ve never had a sincere, truthfully honest relationship that was worth fighting for and making things work. Have I loved? Yes, but have I ever really received that love – I couldn’t say to be honest. I don’t know what that reciprocity feels like. I wouldn’t say I am jaded though, I still love with all I have every time. Sounds like you and I both may be unicorns. Stay that way! Can’t wait to hear about your life.

  • Jacky! From our previous talks I feel you have the insight that one can factor in when it comes to dating, relationships and even the big commitment (still semi-afraid of the “M” word. I’m getting better though). As a young man in his early 30s who also moved to LA to pursue his dreams, I know a thing or two about the dating scene here in LA. All I can say is thank God I found a Queen and I don’t have to deal with the harsh reality of dating in LA anymore. Anyway, looking forward to visiting the site daily.

  • I stumble upon you and read your story….. yes God has a plan. Sometimes we choose our partners vs allowing God to choose them. That’s where we fall short…. I say we because I did the same…. Ms. Right will soon come because you know God…. and that’s all that matters 1st
